Aspen Grove: December 1

Date: Mon, Dec 1, 2008 at 2:20 PM
Hello all!

It sounds like everyone had a great holiday! The children were very cheery today.

We had wintry trees at the art table that were accompanied by sequins, snowflakes, puff balls, tinsel, and some other odds and ends. Ellie and Nyah got right to work decorating a tree, they were followed by Skye and Brennan. Skye very meticulously put a drop of glue and then a sequin, over and over. Brennan used lots of glue, and LOTS of sequins.

Aliza, Ellie, and Nyah also got busy cutting fabric at the sensory table. They found shapes, and cut shapes to make cookies which they put on a baking sheet.

Gabi spent a lot of the morning curled up in a teachers lap, reading books or bringing objects to share with them.

Ariel showed up with firetrucks and characters from home which initiated siren noises and fireman dress up between Brennan and himself. They were later joined by Aliza and Gabi.

Everyone helped in the kitchen baking (wheat-free) cranberry/ banana bread for snack. This recipe is delicious and will be in our Aspen Grove Cookbook, which we hope to have done by the end of December.

During circle we learned a number of fun new winter songs including "the snowky-pokey". If your family has any special songs, traditions, food, or games that relate to the holidays that you would like to share, please let us know.

After snack we headed out for a walk, which was met by lots of cheers! Skye directed everyone on which type of Thomas train they were and we "choo, choo'd" half way around the block. The other half of the walk we were cars who stopped at red lights and stop signs and even got in a traffic jam.

See you tomorrow,
Jessica and Shawna
